ABOUT CID SANCHEZ

Cid Sanchez has a reputation as one of the most popular guitar teachers in Austin, TX.

And here's why:  Cid makes learning guitar FUN!

SEE CID IN ACTION!

From the kid whose imagination ignited when he first was inspired by the British Invasion, Motown, and The Ventures  to the teenager who began playing professionally in 1970 with Joe Sublett, his hometown pal (and future sax maestro who's played with SRV, the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, & Taj Mahal), to the man who performed with the top artists and producers listed below and discovered he loves to teach, Cid's passion and joy in music has always been his driving force.

Teaching at the Austin School of Music for the past 15 years has kept Cid busy.  When he can, he performs with The Rockville Blues Band (formerly The Sanchez Brothers), with his brother, Austin drummer Lenny Sanchez, bassist Vic Gerrard, and former student Adam Johnson on guitar and vocals.  (Check out some videos below.)

Cid has performed and/or recorded with a nearly endless list of top artists, including Alejandro Escovedo, Freddie Fender, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Bo Diddley, Chris Layton, Trish Murphy, Toby Anderson, James Polk, Ted Roddy, Jeff Anderson, Patricia Vonne, Ricky Broussard (Two Hoots and a Holler) Jeff Hughes and Chapparal, Ronnie Johnson, Tony Campise, Trey Pittman, Rick Trevino, Dwight Baker, Steve Fulton, Max Hudson, Dave Murray, Billy King, Brad Fordham, Chip Dill, David Rockwell, David Fore, Vic Gerrard, Kevin McKinney, Frosty, Liz Morphis,  Johnny Vogelsang, Ed Jarusinsky, Michael O'Connor, Bobby Irwin, Mark Andes, Kai Roach, Pat Mertens, Mike Hardwick, and Max Frost, and too many others to name! He's also worked with producers Stephen Bruton, David McNair (SRV, Kelly Willis) and Jay Hudson of "The Hit Shack" and engineer Chet Himes.

In 2007, Cid had the great fortune to play with hometown friend Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon as Double Trouble at a musical event; a highlight of his time in Austin.

Cid Sanchez attended Del Mar Junior College School Of Music (alongside Chris Layton and Joe Sublett!) His styles include rock, blues, country, pop, R&B, soul, surf, folk, rockabilly, hard rock, metal, and virtually all popular songs.   He teaches lead and rhythm guitar, mandolin, and electric bass.
